Study and education
"The 20th century was the century of the electron; the 21st will be that of the photon," states the provocative study "Harnessing Light," which looks at the importance of optical technologies for society in the new millennium.
Indeed, optical technologies play a central role in many areas of daily life: lighting technology, which ensures ever better and more energy-efficient illumination with ever better methods and lamp systems, laser-based material processing in industrial manufacturing, optical sensor technology and optical communications technology, as well as display technology are just a few examples of optical technologies that have an important significance for modern industrial society.
The courses offered at LTI provide a broad education in these areas and prepare students for the many career opportunities related to optical technologies. An overview of the courses is provided in the KIT course catalog.
